Rocket*
Rocket is a very versatile leaf which has gained in popularity hugely in recent years. It is thin and spiky in appearance, and peppery and hot in flavour. It has long had a role in Italian cookery and popular uses are salads, as a garnish, wilted in pasta or on top of pizza. It is also known as arugula, ruccola and rocquette and was thought to have originated from Southern Europe.
Lambs Lettuce
Lambs lettuce has long spoon shaped leaves and a distinctive, tangy flavour. The name comes from the lettuce's resemblance to the size and shape of a lambs tongue. It is sometimes known as 'Corn Salad', and in France 'Mache'. Its most common use is as a salad ingredient, however it can also be steamed as a side vegetable and used in cooking like Spinach.
Red Batavia
Red Batavia is a vibrant dark red leaf that offers a good colour contrast to common green leaves used in salads. It is an attractive looking babyleaf with a frill on the edge.
Red Chard
Red chard is a member of the Swiss chard family. The leaves have a semi sweet beetroot like taste and are increasingly found in mixed salads as they are visually attractive. It can be treated like spinach and eaten raw or cooked, however its main use is as a salad leaf.
Organic Red Leaf
We supply two varieties of organic red leaf, lollo rosso or red batavia. The availability of each variety is dependent on the time of the season.
Babyleaf Mix*
Babyleaf mix is available in both conventional and organic formats. It is usually packed as a three part mix consisting of spinach, rocket and a red leaf. However it can be customised to meet your requirements.
