GPS Planting systems
We have invested in global positioning systems for our tractors and other machinery. We can be precise within 2.5cm on our fields, improving the quality of our products and helping us to farm to best standards.
Triple Planting Systems
Efficiencies are important for us and our customers. We have developed machinery to plant across multiple 'beds' at a time, as is often the case with such efficiencies this does also provide the advantage of minimising our carbon footprint.
Flow wrapping in the field
We have developed our field packing rigs to incorpororate packing machines for little gem and romaine hearts. This has lead to the reduction in the number of people it takes to pack lettuce. It also limits human contact after the point of cutting which reduces the chance of exposure to damage, bruising and contamination. Our rig harvesting methods have been proven to significantly improve the final product quality and shelf life.
Babyleaf Harvesting
We are continually improving and developing our babyleaf harvest machinery. We are focusing on making sure that all unwanted leaves or perhaps even small stones are removed through carefully designed use of our air caynons and bouncing conveyers.
Spring Onion Harvesting
We will be embarking on a project in 2009 to develop a field based harvesting and processing rig. This will reduce the labour intensity of the process and reduce the product handling.
