In our dry care factory we pack unwashed babyleaf salads for both retailers and for use in our own brand. We established through extensive consumer research the need for unwashed salads to widen the choice of leaves available in an unprocessed format. Our unwashed leaves are simply harvested and packed in air which optimises the shelf life so they last longer; even after opening. They also taste fresher and retain their goodness and texture because they have not been washed. The range we pack includes solo packs and babyleaf mixes in both conventional and organic formats.

Our first line was built in 2000, with a further 2 lines being introduced in 2004. The factory is an integrated solution within our farming business and now has a bagging capacity of over 400k packs per week. The babyleaves travel over a bouncing belt and an air canyon to remove any foreign bodies. They pass through a multihead weigher and are simply packed in air, as stated previously to optimise shelf life.
