corporate responsibility
Employment
Langmead Farms relies upon a flexible workforce for the hand picking of our produce in the growing season. Seasonal agricultural workers are recruited, mainly from outside of the area. Our permanent employees have settled in the community, and may have come from over 12 different countries or have grown up locally.
Agricultural Vehicle Management
Langmead Farms operates a significant number of agricultural vehicles throughout West Sussex and Kent. We recognise that these movements can be disruptive to local communities and other road users. To reduce the effects we operate a Traffic Management System which includes risk assessing vehicle routes to reduce disruption. We also undertake a mud on the road clearance programme, training and assessment of our drivers and fit GPS satellite tracking systems in some vehicles. We would actively encourage both positive and negative feedback on all vehicle issues.
Community Involvement
We are active members of neighbourhood management panels, parish councils and local action groups, and are regularly invited to deliver presentations to neighbourhood groups. Through active engagement with the community within which we live and work, Langmead Farms aims to minimise its adverse business activities and to develop a positive link with our neighbours to increase the positive and beneficial activities.
